What is H1N1 flu (swine flu)?
H1N1 (referred early on as "swine flu") is a new influenza virus causing illness in people. This new virus was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009. The virus is spreading from person to person, probably in much the same way that regular seasonal influenza viruses spread.

What are the signs and symptoms of H1N1 flu (swine flu) in people?
  • Fever (usually high)
  • Headache
  • Extreme tiredness
  • Dry cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle aches
  • Chills
  • Diarrhea and vomiting has also been reported

La Crosse County Public Health Department H1N1 Flu Vaccine Information:

The La Crosse County Public Health Nursing Division offers H1N1 Influenza vaccination at the La Crosse County Public Health Department:

Appointments are necessary when coming to the Health Department - Nursing Division. Please call 608-785-9723 to schedule an appointment.

The La Crosse County Health Department Nursing Division is located on the 2nd floor of the Health and Human Services Building, 300 4th Street North, La Crosse, WI, 54601.

 

There is no charge for the H1N1 vaccine through the La Crosse County Health Department.
